The First of Many?

Seeing as we have this wonderful 1st Amendment thing, you’ve heard of the Bill of Rights, right; I figured I would use this wonderfully granted ability to hurl random thoughts into cyberspace. It can’t hurt right? What’s the worst thing that can happen? No one reads my little blog about nothing? That really won’t phase me. Maybe someone will read it, maybe people will agree with what I put down on “Paper”, maybe they won’t. It all goes back to the 1st Amendment.

What I will write about. Whatever comes to mind, whatever motivates me that day, whatever just needs to flow from my head, hence “The Gears in My Head”. In reality, like with many people, they never stop turning. I can’t shut them down, something is always running through there. Weather it is how much I love my wife, how my dogs are behaving, a problem I’m trying to solve at work, or something as minor as who to take in my Fantasy Football drafts. Those things will come up pretty regularly come August, 3 or 4 leagues this, but that’s a whole different blog.

Won’t I won’t write about. Personal attacks on people. I may generalize, I may bash cities, I may bash crappy bands, or movies that I wish I could have that time in my life back from, but I will not attack individuals, races, religions, or cultures. I may question what I don’t understand, but I won’t say it’s stupid.

So, with that out of the way, let’s get this first Blog under way. WOO HOO!!! Or something…

Last week we were at one of our favorite haunts in town (Las Vegas)..cheap plug coming here…La Madonna. Mark, our always entertaining and knowledgeable bartender and I were talking about beer, something that being an Avant Garde Mexican Restaurant, they don’t have what I deem to be a good selection of. I loathe Mexican beers, all of them. It’s just my taste. Anyway, he mentioned Reinheitsgebot, the German Beer Purity Law. Basically only 4 ingredients can be used in beer; Water, barley, hops, and yeast. Check it out, pretty interesting stuff right? So I’ll admit, I drink beers that wavier a little. Guinness supposedly contains isinglass finings made from fishes' air bladders, though these care gone in the final product. I can live with that. However, good old American Budweiser, which I also refuse t drink, is made with Rice. Rice isn’t one of the 4 ingredients in the Purity Law. If I wanted Rice, I would order some type of Asian cuisine. Yes, I am a hypocrite, but at least Guinness doesn’t have Rice in it. Weak argument, but I also like many of those fruity beers, not pure, but good. Budweiser, MDG, Pabst, Coors, not good, not good at all.

I have other things on my mind, but it’s late, I’m sunburned, and I’m on Vacation. Something the Wife and I both needed.

Last Entry for the night. Rest in Peace Steve McNair. You were always fun to watch and a solid citizen from everything I ever saw. You will be missed by many.
